Learn the simple way to decide after 12th Science or Commerce

More than lakhs of students appeared for their class 12th board exam in 2021 all over India. Now that the board exams are over, there is little time left for the students to unwind, as the race for admission to a good college and cutthroat competition to ensure a seat in the course of one’s preference now starts.

This is a common myth among most of the students, parents, and teachers also that if a kid scores high marks in their school, then he or she qualifies as a merit student, and hence, it somehow becomes compulsory for a kid to pursue a course which is considered elite. For instance, it is usually expected to take courses after 12th science in a good MBBS or engineering college and a commerce stream student to take admission in B.Com course in a reputed college.

Nonetheless, what many students and parents fail to realize is that just because someone has scored well in the exam doesn’t necessarily entail that the kid will shine in the field of medical and engineering also. Many students apply for AIEEE and JEE exams every year mainly due to parental pressure than self interest. Thus, although they may be able to get through IIT’s and NIT’s, in spite of this, their grades start to fail drastically and they start to lose confidence if they plan to appear for an interview in journalism.

The sooner a person understands these inherent strengths, the better it is for their career to take courses after 12th commerce. Knowing who I am, what I am, what I am made of, what I am good at, what I am not good at, what is my personality, what type of aptitude I have, what interests me etc, truly assists in making better informed decisions about one’s choice regarding course during graduation and post graduation, and eventually taking the most suitable career later.

This awareness about one’s aptitude, interest and personality can be found through the use of psychometric tests. Nonetheless, one should take precaution not to take any random psychometric test that is available in multitude online, but instead, to check the dependability and credibility of the test and its result before making the call.
